Blackie Update

My Blackie custom (box and faceplate by bencao74) is finished, at least for now... still want to add Wii support, but that will involve some heavy soldering...
My Blackie with red Sanwa buttons and balltop from the top, the gap between the faceplate and the box is filled with silicone.

The innards of my Blackie custom with red Sanwa buttons and balltop with a sandwich of a Dual Strike V2 and a MadCatz Fightstick TE for XBox360 PCB, a EX Strike is used to connect the PCBs to the buttons and joystick.

Dual Strike HW Revision v2 and waiting for TEasy..

a

Hey,

some very good news about the Dual Strike project(s). Finally I`ve got my PCB and assembled them with parts. And what happiness after first testing: They do their job !

New Features :

- Symetrical Design
- 4 Mounting holes
- 4 GND Terminals
- SMD parts for faster assembly
- All pins on screw terminals
- USB datalines on screw terminals

Here some pics.

6 pcs Dual Strike. In the middle in upper row my testing board.

Nice isn't it?

But now to something very ql. The first solderless solution for making a dual mod with your TE.

The ribbon cable interface will be connected to TEasy.

Then screw down the stock TE USB cable to the screw terminals for D+, D-, VCC and GND. That's all. More info will presented hopefully on EVO in Las Vega from Phreakazoid187.

Current State o project:

- Test switchless functionality for Dual Strike v2. 4066 should arrive this we
- Wait for TEasy Test PCB from Phreak

Yeah, that was fun :)

Dual Modding a Fight Pad with Dual Stike

aonther nice project from gummowned. He assembled a Dual Strike SMD Version into a Fight Pad. So you've a Fight Pad compatible to xbox360 and PS3.

Here's the album

OnPSX.NET Article about Dual Strike / Dual Modding

Hi,

the boyz from onspx.net tested Dual Strike and released an arcticle about making a Dual Mod with a Madcatz SF4 Special Edition Stick.

There`s a lottery and the price is one dual strike for free.

Dual Strike meets Fight Pad

Pic Tutorial for connecting a xbox360 Fight Pad to Dual Strike.

Dual Strike is a PS3 / PC GameController Board for home made / DIY gaming equipment like Arcade Sticks or Cabs.

Dual Strike is complete solderless for supporting PS3 or PC. Connect your buttons and sticks directly to the screw terminals.

But Dual Strike can do more. It had an extra connector for supporting xbox360 consoles.

You`ve to soldier a common ground controller pad and connect it to dual strike. Dual Strike has then one USB plug for supporting both consoles (PS3, xbox360). Press any key and xbox360 support is turned on. Press no key and PS3 support takes place.

Here are some pics. More detailed step to step tutorial will follow.

Step 1

Prepare your work. Get a 20pin IDC / ribbon cable. Strip the wire end and presolder them. Deassemble your game controller.

Step 3:

Presoldier your game controller board. Every point needs a solder drip.

Step 3

Solder the wires to points. Pin mapping will follow !!! For the pros : It`s UPCB pin mapping. To be done!!!!

Step 4

Connect the piggybacked game controller to Dual Strike!

Et voilĂ  (for our french friends ;) )

Dual Strike new version supports PS3 and xbox360 without needing a extra switch. Press any button or stick direction while plugging to switch on xbox360 support. Press nothing for PS3 compability.

Salut!

Assembling a dual mod with dual strike PCB, Part1

Ok,

here's the first part of assembling a dual mod with the dual strike PCB.

The goal is to assemble a circuit supporting the Playstation 3 and xbox360 with my dual strike PCB.

Prerequisites:

- Multimeter / Circuit analyzer

Step 1: Check if your xbox360 PCB has a common ground line.

Each button has two wires. One cable is the ground line. Check with the multimeter which ohne is connected to ground. Measure the resistance between a ground point, i.e. black wire of usb connector and the button wire.

Expected result : Resistance between one button wire and black usb wire is 0 ohm. This wire is connected to GND. Notify this Button GND wire.

Step 2: Measure resistance between Button GND wire to all other buttons wire.

Expected result : Each button and stick directions have a wire with resistance of 0 ohm to the Button GND wire.

Ok, now we're sure that all buttons and stick directions share a common ground.

You're ready to rumble the dual mod.

That's all for today. Leave comments in case something is unclear or can be better described.

Dual Strike Pin Mapping for connecting any kind of game controllers

TAKE CARE! THIS IS PIN MAPPING FOR THE EARLY VERSION DUAL STRIKE WITH EXTERNAL SWITCH. DONT USE IT FOR SUPER DUAL STRIKE!

Hey,

here's the promised pin mapping for connecting external game controller pcb. Dual Strike PCB support so far natively PC and PS3. Of course it's possible to support other consoles like Dreamcast, PS2 or even xbox360 (and all others). Just use the simple dual mod connector.

The mapping here is standard TE Layout. Just connect LK to xbox360 button "A", MK to "B", LP to "X", MP to "Y", ...
Notation in brackets is notation on PCB. Use this table for connecting the screw terminaly, too.

Pin No.Bemu Slangxbox360Ps1, PS2
Pin 1 High Punch (HP)RBR1
Pin 2 5V red wire USB
Pin 3 up (up)
Pin 4 down (dw)
Pin 5 left (lf)
Pin 6 right (rg)
Pin 7 Low Punch (LP) X Square
Pin 8 Low Kick (LK) A Cross
Pin 9 Medium Punch (MP) Y Triangle
Pin 10 Medium Kick (MK) B Circle
Pin 11 StartStart Start
Pin 12 Select Select Back
Pin 13 D- USB white wire nc
Pin 14 High Kick (HK) RT R2
Pin 15 D+ USB green wire
Pin 16 GND USB black wire
Pin 17 Fourth Punch (4P) LB L1
Pin 18 Fourth Kick (4K) LT L2
Pin 19 HOME HOME GUIDE
Pin 20 nc

sorry for this gap, but this blog form sucks...

Dual Strike (was Lulu) meets Dreamcast

Hey,

today a Dreamcast Padhack came along and meets the Dual Strike PCB (Lulu was renamed to Dual Strike).

DC has two serial datalines for the pad. So I`ve used this two datalines and connected them to USB Cable instead of D+ and D- usb datalines. Then I connected the buttons stuff to the additional DUAL Mod interface of the Dual Strike PCB. The datalines goes to the DPDT switch. This switch selects between the USB datalines for PC/ PS3 and Dreamcast datalines. So the user of this nice piece of hardware can easily switch between PS3 and Dreamcast support for their consoles.

Piggyback DC to Dual Strike PCB.

Dreamcast to USB cable ;) Don't get me wrong. It`s not a converter.

Lulu on the run...

I did further testing for my Ps3 / PC Controller. Yes, Dual Mod integration works fine. Just connect a padhacked xbox360 cg pad similar to the UPCB and connect a switch for the usb datalines.

now you can switch with the black switcher between xbox360 and ps3.

Size comparsion to the Chutulu. My realization is a little bit smaller and has better dual mod support. Sure, no complaints against Chutulu. It's a fine piece of hw.

Lulu Boards arrived!!

Hey,

leave me a message if you want one. Grab this one in case you want a V-USB breakout. all pins are connected with screw terminal. So this PCB is general purpose and easy to use V-USB realization.

Leave me some suggestions for a new name for this project! Best proposal gets a free board.

Landoo Crew arrived safely.
