Padhack breakout controller - EX Strike revisited

I was making this project in 2010 for making Dual Strike available for interfacing other subsystems like LED Controllers, UPCB, Gamecontroller Padhacks, etc. I was asked to make a neo geo interface plus a padhack available for the dual strike. Just simple if one uses the EX Strike board. It gives additional two break out interfaces for the dual strike making it usable for a wider range of applications.

Cheers

JVStrike : Sega Naomi to MAME PC

Hey,

I was working lately on project for connecting Sega Naomi IO Boards to a MAME PC just by Plug and Play. Normally a complete rewiring and Keyboard or Gamecontrol Encoder like Dual Strike
is needed for such a task.

The complete Control Panel of a Sega Naomi Cab is wirded to this IO Board. JVStrike grabs this
Sega Naomi output (a single USB Cable) and converts it to a HID Keyboard with MAME Standard Keyboard Layout.

Buttons and Sticks -> Sega Naomi IO Board -> JVStrike -> MAME PC

That's all, by just plugging two cables.

Step 1. Connect USB A Cable from Sega Naomi IO Board to JVStrike
Step 2. Connect USB B Cable to JVStrike to MAME PC
Step 3. Power on PC and IO Board

Triple Mod working on PS3, PC, XBox, XBox360 and Wii (Dual Strike + MadCatz TE + PiiWee)

I finally got a project finished with which I began months ago: a triple mod :)
There is a Dual Strike in there for PS3, PC and XBox support, a MadCatz TE PCB for XBox360 connected to the Dual Strike and a PiiWee for Wii. The challenge was to use the USB connector to connect the stick to the Wiimote such that the non-Wii PCBs are not powered when connected to the Wiimote to avoid battery draining.
The basic idea is to switch VCC and GND for the Wii-side and use this to either connect the USB PCBs or the PiiWee to the data lines and buttons. First I tried to accomplish that with diodes but the voltage drops where too high, now I'm using transistors to switch the VCC, GND and button lines. To switch the data lines I'm using two 4066 ICs. I had to externalize the Dual Strike's 4066 to always have it powered, as two cascading 4066 hurt the USB signal too much and if it's unpowered it interferes with the Wii signal. There's also an EX Strike in there for a more flexible setup, the orange boards do the switching magic.
Here are the pics...
With two cables missing to give a better view:
And fully assembled and connected to a Wiimote:

Blackie Update

My Blackie custom (box and faceplate by bencao74) is finished, at least for now... still want to add Wii support, but that will involve some heavy soldering...
My Blackie with red Sanwa buttons and balltop from the top, the gap between the faceplate and the box is filled with silicone.

My Blackie with red Sanwa buttons and balltop from the back.

The innards of my Blackie custom with red Sanwa buttons and balltop with a sandwich of a Dual Strike V2 and a MadCatz Fightstick TE for XBox360 PCB, a EX Strike is used to connect the PCBs to the buttons and joystick.

EX Strike - Dual strike Add on Board

Mike aka purplearms has made a layout for EX Strike. EX Strike is like HUB or add-on Board for your Dual Strike. I.e. if you want to make a second padhack among your xbox360 padhack, then use the EX Strike. EX Strike gives you an easy to use second break out connector.

In near future led driver boards can benefit from this board to. Grab via the second connector all inputs and handle them in your setup.
