UPCB Wiring

UPCB with usb button select cable and modified firmware to fully support the xbox360 pad.

Out of the box PC, PS3, xbox360 and xbox1 are supported. All other consoles can be supported by just swapping the cable.

Again a UPCB with xbox360 piggyback with modified UPCB firmware for correct xbxo360 support.

Button doubling for UPCB

Sometimes a doubling of buttons is needed. For example some saitek converters use start and select on PS2 controllers to emulate guide button or the UPCB and cthulu uses start and select for the GUIDE / HOME button. Since the user is used to dedicated home button here's the solution.

Buy an 74hct4066 like switch. This switch connects A to B in case that C is active_high (connected to 5V).

To have clear signals I've added a pull-down resistor with 10K

Lobo Stick almost finished!

Hi Folks,

so this is my christmas edition. The lobo stick for Riot! The stick has a great artwork emphasizing the button layout and color. One of the best artwork ever worked with. Due to the artwork very clean woodworking and drilling work was needed. At the end the botton fits exactly in the intended artwork place.

Technique :

Stick has UPCB with a piggyback xbox360

This stick supports out of the box

- xbox1 : press LP and LK while connecting the stick
- xbox360 : press HP and HK while connecting the stick
- PS3 : Default

Update of the stick firmware is possible via bootloader pressing start and select.

When changing the cable this stick supports all kind of consoles except dreamcast. The stick can be updated to support the dreamcast (another piggyback).

So this controller is can be used for Playstation 1 and 2, Gamecube, Wii, Sega Master, NES, SNES and many many more.

From a technique point of view this stick is the most evolved piece around the controller world.

Okay, take a close look to the paintwork finish. Now I've done some polishing to underline the mirror effect.

Great Artwok!

Captain Hook ;)

Red transparent bottom plexi. This makes the black buttons glow red under light.

UPCB en masse

Thanks to Jason. Finally this should be a bullet proof pcb for building my arcade sticks. Sure, padhacking could cheaper grabbing the wight controller pad. But I`m tired of hacking/soldiering/testing all those games pads.

Since my DUAL STRIKE PCB supports PS3/ PC and piggyback xbox360/Dreamcast the UPCB covers all the rest.

Thanks again to Jason who did the initial programming of all PICs and for buying high level equipment like high precision socket. Due to this I was able to soldier 5 of this friend in less than one and a half hour.

UPCB and xbox360 piggyback

Hi,

PunkrockCaveMan and I have to prepare for the retrospektive. We want to present some sticks with UPCB supporting all kind of consoles.

close up of the xbox360 piggyback

It's easier to touch things once. So I've decided to built up three in a row. After taken that picture I`ve assembled a additional Dreamcast padhack.

See ya

Bruno UPCB full mod - the xbox360 piggyback

Yo, here're some Pics of the xbox360 piggyback mod for the upcb. First time that I'm using Retrostick PCB.

PCB is well organized and has as feature a spinner like interface. But it's more a little wheel and not a spinner. Interesting is the Headjack interface.

The pins are named so anyone can now connect own headsets.

Solidering was quite easy.

I've desoldiered the triggers and assembled two resistors 10k Ohm. The middle pin is the signal point.

Have fun with this

UPCB Test

Hi,

last year about xmas I've found a little piece hw called UPCB in the SRK Forum. Development of UPCB was done by Toodles.

I've ordered a piece and he shipped me one from the states. Thanks for that. After two later month I've built up a padbox with wireless support via a RF Module. So the wireless UPCB was born. My experiences was very good with UPCB so I decided to make a batch to spread it over germany.

Jason from AZ Forum helped me with assemply and collecting the parts. Toodles gave me the gerber files to produce to PCBs.

Assembly is now finished and the very interesting testing phase comes up.

I've taken a lot of pics and vids. Check it out. For more infos about UPCB read my previous posts on this topics, too.

Here is a vid with testing Ikaruga on the Dreamcast. Take attention to the led mod in the padbox ;) Dreamcast is NOT supported natively by UPCB, so piggyback is used.

Here's is a test with the xbox360 and Street Fighter HD Remix. Again xbox360 is not supported natively and pad hacked piggyback is used. Led Mod for padhack is realized again.

Now test with first native UPCB protocoll: The Playstation 2. Test was done with Samurai Showdown.

Video

Summarizing the whole tests was very successful. Wireless Adapter was not topic of this test, tough. However it worked fine, too. No impact is here.

Some Cables: Every console needs an own cable.

PadBox

With this cute little piece of hardware I can connect my arcadesticks to most of all consoles. And this of course wireless! Here's a list of supported consoles:
  • NeoGeo
  • xbox360 (extra piggyback)
  • dreamcast (extra piggyback)
  • USB HID PC
  • PS3
  • PS2
  • PS1
  • Gamecube and Wii
  • SNES
  • NES
  • Amiga
  • Sega Saturn and Genesis
  • ...

Scetch was this:

Arcade Stick -> radio sender -> AIR -> Pad box [ radio receiver - UPCB - piggyback Dreamcast and xbox360] -> all consoles

Now here's the pad box:

Cammy in new colors.

Plexi case with connectors for VMU and consoles

Look inside with UPCB, RF Module, Dreamcast and Xbox360 padhack on plexi with illumination.

Here's again the UPCB and RF Module.

Dreamcast Padhack

Dreamcast Padhack on Plexi with graved logo.

xbox360 padhack on plexi...

... and with graved logo ...

... and with illumination.

But that's not the end of the light show. When pressing "Start" on Arcade Stick Plexi will be light up in blue. Dreamcast default light is dreamcast europe blue and pressing "Start" will result in green.

Pressing A light ups PadPlexi in red.

Default color for xbox360 is green, for Dreamcast of course blue.
